How to get a tattoo.
Before We Begin…
-
I only accept bookings through my booking form.
-
My rates are $170/hour.
For medium to large scale pieces, I charge the following discounted day rates:$850 for 6 hour sessions (Full day)
$450 for 3 hour sessions (Half day)
If a full 6 hour day session is booked, you will always be given the option to tap out at the 3 hour mark, at which point you will be charged my full hourly rate of $510. (170x3=510).
DAY RATES APPLY TO MY CHILLIWACK STUDIO ONLY. THEY DO NOT APPLY TO GUEST SPOTS OR CONVENTIONS.
How many sessions you will need depends on a few factors: how complicated the piece is and how well you can sit. I can give a rough estimate of how many sessions it may take, but it may not be totally accurate.
-
I am located in a private studio in Chilliwack, British Columbia. My studio is wheelchair accessible and is located on a ground floor.
-
While I try my best to work within your budget, I will be realistic with you regarding what is possible for your design. For the best possible version of your idea, a flexible budget is recommended.
-
Many factors are at play when determining the total cost of a tattoo. This includes but is not limited to:
How well you can sit.
Skin conditions (for example, skin that is heavily sun-tanned can take longer to tattoo than someone with skin that is moisturized daily and gets little to no sun).
Placement. Certain areas of the body may take more or less time to tattoo (for example, a ribcage vs a lower calf).
Sizing & level of detail the final design ends up with. Custom designs are not drawn until at least a few days prior to your appointment, so I will not know exactly how detailed the piece will be until it is conceptualized.
I can always try to give a very rough estimate on how long I think a piece will take, but it may not be totally accurate.
-
I only send out preliminary sketches for large scale projects (sleeves, back pieces, etc). I do not send out sketches to prevent unnecessary back-and-forth via email or miscommunications. Any minor changes that need to be made can be made in person at your appointment.
This is why it is important to be as specific as possible in your booking form.
I will always give my best professional effort into creating the perfect design for you, and it is important to keep an open mind when booking a tattoo with me, as you are aware of the quality and style of work I produce.
Any major changes that result in a total redraw of your design may require a reschedule and loss of deposit.
-
Yes! I offer free consultations to anyone who feels they may want to chat face-to-face before booking a session with me. I offer consultations via Instagram FaceTime or at my Chilliwack studio in person.
About Your Appointment
-
I accept cash, e-transfer and most major credit cards (with an added transaction fee). Cash is always preferred.
There are no ATMs around my studio, so please come prepared!
Payment in full is to be made before your departure from my studio. I do not allow for split payments to be made (for example, if you do not get paid until the following week, please do not schedule your tattoo until you are financially capable of making a full payment for my services).
-
Whether you have booked a half or full day, it is always recommended to bring things that will make your experience more comfortable. This includes but is not limited to:
Blanket (I provide pillows). Please be prepared for the possibility of ink staining your blanket depending on where you have it placed.
Food/snacks (I always have chocolate, candy, water, gatorade and Coca Cola on hand). There are no food establishments in the vicinity of my studio, but you may opt for food delivery services if you so desire!
Entertainment such as a book, gaming console or laptop for a movie (please bring headphones if you decide to bring a console, however I may get in on your movie if it’s good).
If your game/movie/book is causing you to react in a way that causes movement while I am working, I may ask you to put it away as it could impede on the quality of work I produce. Please keep this in mind when selecting what you are bringing.
Comfy clothing/clothing that is easily rolled up to access the tattoo area.
-
Yes. I allow for one additional guest. Please give me notice so I can prepare a seating area for them.
-
I require at least 3 days notice before your appointment of any reschedules or cancellations. This can be done through email or direct message via Instagram.
If you cancel your appointment within the 3 day window, you will lose your deposit.
I allow for ONE reschedule. Any additional reschedules will result in having to pay a new deposit.
If you are sick on the day of your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. I will honour your deposit for ONE illness-related reschedule, but please do not abuse this policy.
No-calls/No-shows are grounds for immediate loss of deposit and permanent dismissal of my future services.
Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable and are deducted from the final price of the final session (if applicable) of your tattoo.
-
Unfortunately I do not accept walk-ins as I only work with privately accepted appointments. There may be the odd time I post my availability for the week on my Instagram stories, but otherwise your best bet is to book an appointment.
-
If you are more than 15 minutes late to your appointment without notice, your session will be canceled and your deposit lost. If you know you will be late, please let me know as soon as possible either via email or Instagram DM.
Preparing for your appointment
-
2-3 weeks before your tattoo:
Keep the area you would like tattooed out of the sun. Sunburned skin CANNOT be tattooed. Please use plenty of sunscreen (minimum 50 SPF) or wear clothing that will keep you out of the sun for at least 2-3 weeks before your session.
The week before:
Stay hydrated!!! Drink plenty of water for at least one week before your session.
Do not drink alcohol at least 3-5 days before. Alcohol thins your blood and causes major dehydration which will result in a more painful and generally longer tattoo experience.
Moisturize the tattoo area at least once a day up until the day before your session.
The night before:
Get a good night’s rest! Your body will thank you while you are being tattooed.
-
Please bring anything to your session that you feel will make you more comfortable. This includes things such as:
A blanket
Headphones
A book/e-reader
A gaming console (given you are not moving around while playing)
PLEASE SHOWER AND PUT ON DEODORANT before your appointment. We will be in VERY close proximity with each other for HOURS in a VERY SMALL room.
If you are questioning whether I will notice if you smell, the answer is always unequivocally yes.
If I am tattooing anything below your knees, I will be asking you to take your shoes off. Please keep that in mind when you are preparing for your session.
I am completely fine with perfumes and colognes as well.
-
PLEASE DO NOT SHAVE THE TATTOO AREA BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT!!! Pre-shaving may cause razor bumps or abrasions that can compromise the skin. This could result in needing to move the whole design as certain abrasions cannot be tattooed over.
-
YES. You MUST eat before your session. Please eat a high protein, substantial meal the morning of your appointment. There have been many sessions I have had to end early due to clients feeling faint/fainting from not eating beforehand. Having a full stomach will also make the process significantly more tolerable. The more fuel your body has to sustain itself, the easier it will be for you to sit for your tattoo.
-
Please avoid taking any NSAIDs (such as Advil) as they thin your blood and will cause more bleeding, resulting in a potentially longer session. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is generally OK, so long as it is not combined with Ibuprofen.
-
As I am not a medical professional, I highly recommend asking your doctor to be cleared for a tattoo prior to booking a session with me. If you book with me without consulting with a doctor and are uncertain about your ability to be tattooed, I may politely decline to book with you until you have spoken with them.
-
PLEASE DO NOT USE NUMBING CREAM. IF YOU ARRIVE TO YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH A NUMBING AGENT, YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY AND YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DEPOSIT. This is a safety and liability issue. Numbing agents such as lidocaine in high doses can cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, scarring and in rare cases, cardiac arrest.
I use bactine sparingly, which has a very low concentration of lidocaine. Please keep in mind that we can take breaks whenever you need!
